In 1951, Roberto pursues his dream of a career in television, defying his mother's orders, to try his hand at both comedy...and love.
Now known as Chespirito, Roberto decides to try his luck on another channel and, despite some setbacks, manages to put together a successful sketch.
Doctor Chapatín's resignation puts Roberto's career at risk, so he must create a new character before the executives give his place to another comedian. But it's his cunning and an old idea that will save the day.
In 1936, a young Roberto is sent to Guadalajara, where he struggles to fit in. Decades later, the now seasoned Chespirito finds himself lost without his biggest supporters at Channel 8, but memories of childhood help the comic conceive El Chavo del Ocho -- his most successful series yet.
As El Chavo gains popularity and Roberto is given more creative freedom, Channel 8's competitors vie to bring Chespirito on board. Meanwhile, success and fame cause trouble for Roberto, his team and his family, leading to the comic's most prolific -- and devastating -- era.
